Gothics Photography Hike

Fall High Peaks winter warm up!

If you’re thinking about hiking winter peaks or just want to climb a few high peaks in general, this trip is for you! Gothics and it sub peak Pyramid are perhaps the Adirondacks’ most extraordinary summits! For most, Gothics ranks as the all time champion for views among the peaks with over 30 of the other high peaks discernible from the top! On this summit, we’ll spend time exposed in the Arctic Alpine Zone. Expect a true winter mountaintop environment with winds and exposure! After this, we will descend to the Gothics/Armstrong col to begin our hike out. All is not over yet as we still have to pass Beaver Meadow Falls where everyone can marvel up close at a magnificent Adirondack waterfall. From this area there is also a perfect photo opportunity of Ausable Lake along with Sawteeth and Mt.Colvin!

Much of the lower approach from this hike will be along Lake road from the Ausable Club. Conditions will be that of Fall. Over 4 miles of our total day will be easy walking on this road. On the mountains as we go up, we will surely encounter wintery conditions including freezing wind, snow and possible ice! You WILL need a winter jacket, GLOVES, HAT and wool or synthetic socks along with a solid hiking boot! Microspikes WILL be needed for this trek. Some of the best photos ever taken in the High Peaks have come from these two mountains! I’ll ensure a safe guided ascent and descent all while providing education such as notable landmarks, history, hiking technique and skills! If you do not own trekking poles or lack proper winter gear please call or text me at (518) as I can help outfit for the day if needed. This trip will be approximately 8 hours. Some degree of physical fitness is required. We will be hiking 11 miles and climbing just under 3,500 feet elevation gain for the day. I look forward to meeting another greatĀ  group of folks!
