A superb way to view the high peaks is under full moonlight at night during the winter as we climb Cascade Mountain! Cascade is a fairly short, straight-forward climb to an outstanding exposed summit. Its vantage point offers the ultimate 360-degree view of peaks all around.
In the winter the snow-capped peaks reflect the moon’s light, bringing to life remarkable alpine vistas. The night ascent on its own is an exciting event. The 1940-foot ascent to the 4098-foot summit can be achieved easily by anyone in reasonable physical condition.
We willl set off from the Route 73 trailhead at 6 p.m. It is an average 2-hour hike to the summit where we will spend as long as the group likes but will have to consider weather conditions.
